Ashley..gone SoBE

I wonder what Major Whitlock would be thinking if he got a gander at these. lol.

Affordable Glasses

My mom needed some newEyeglasses and she couldn’t afford the rather outrageous price that a lot of places charge right now. So I did a little bit of research and found Zenni Optical, they have some very affordable prices on their glasses. You really can find nice and quality eye glasses for cheap prices. My mom was pretty happy which what she found over there. They have almost any frame in a variety of colors that you could wish for. The frames are made in a lot of different alloys and don’t look as affordable as the prices are. So head on over and check them out, no one has to know you didn’t spend $100 or more on the frames.

Cosmo Goes Vampire

Just shareing a little bit something yummy.

Jackson Withdraws from Lords of Chaos

While they take a little bit of..creativeness on trashing the Twi community(boo) it is still news. From Exclaim.Ca .

The worldwide black metal community, long divided by such burning issues as which bands are “true” and what bands are “cult,” can now finally unite: Twilight heartthrob Jackson Rathbone will not play infamous black metal trailblazer/recently released prisoner/Burzum kingpin Varg Vikernes in an upcoming movie adaptation of the Lords of Chaos book. Seriously, all the black metallers around the world must be smiling all at once.

The book — which looks at the ‘90s Norwegian black metal scene, with its church burnings, murders, and prison sentences galore — was released in 1998 and has become a point of contention within black metal, with some claiming it’s exploitative and inaccurate and others claiming it’s a definitive tome.

However, no one in the metal world was likely thrilled when it was announced that Rathbone would be playing a main role in the movie, mainly just due to his unshakeable “teen heartthrob” tag. Beelzebub got the last laugh this time, though, as Rathbone can no longer do the filming due to scheduling conflicts, reports the Houston Chronicle [via Blabbermouth].

We can only guess those conflicts involve post-Twilight mania, but in the end we don’t really care. We, like all black metal dudes around the world, are happy with the decision. Because while there is (thankfully) only one Varg (who also goes by the name of, uh, Count Grishnack), and if someone has to play him in a film, it’s better that it’s not a piece of tween bait. That’s just wrong.

But there is a downside to this. As one user at Blabbermouth put it, “F*#@, now there won’t even be any Lords of Chaos lunch boxes. Damn it.”

Twilight...at the Oscars?!

Yeah you read that title right, according to this report over at Twi-Crack it is possible.

New Moon, Little Ashes and Adventureland have been entered for OSCAR contention -which means they've been entered and and accepted for consideration, if the Academy votes the could be nominated.

Now while I love New Moon, I don't think it is an Oscar Movie. However, I really do feel that Little Ashes is!

Mayweather vs. Pacquiao

Okay, I admit I don’t watch boxing much however I did get an earful when I told my hubby about this little writing job about boxing. So, I guess I am a little bit excited. Coming up at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas (do you know what I think of when I think of Vegas? I know you do) on March 13th 2010 is the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight. Would you go to this fight if you could? I think I might just because I have never been and it would be interesting to see, plus I looked up Manny Pacquiao tickets and it doesn’t seem too bad. Who do you think is going to win the fight? My husband thinks its going to be Mayweather.

Advanced Screening of Dread

I found this over at CBA.
Just $7 as an entry fee for getting into the screening. Head on down to LA New Beverly Cinema on January 23rd.

Shock Till You Drop and Phil Blankenship of the New Bev are proud to announce we’ll be holding a special advance screening of the Clive Barker adaptation Dread. The film doesn’t open until January 29, when it rolls out with its fellow After Dark Horrorfest titles, but we’ve made a sneak preview possible.

Mark your calendars: January 23 at 11:59pm. Writer-director Anthony DiBlasi will be on hand for a Q&A. He’ll be joined by cast members Shaun Evans, Hanne Steen and Laura Donnelly. Barker’s attendance is pending based on his schedule.

Barker was kind enough to sketch an original piece of art for this event. We have worked it into the official flyer and we’ll be raffling off the original art at the screening!

Flash Back too...October.

The talk about the new dolls made me smile and remember October Twi-Con and Pocket Jasper's fun. He got to hang out with Sara, and Bella Bejeweled. And The Hillywood Show. As you can see he had fun. This lovely photo was taken by Sara.

Major Thought's on New Moon Parody..

My review won’t be anywhere near as well put and in-depth as Ambrosia’s I am sure. But I thought I should play my hand at it anyways. I didn’t wait up and see the Parody release I was admittedly sound asleep in my bed. But it was not a bad thing to wake up and be greeted with when I woke up.

The Hillywood Show’s New Moon Parody is fun and quirky like the Twilight Parody. You can’t beat the leather clad Bella saying So What instead of moping around and sending emails to nobody. And the nice Team Jacob ink lends to asking why didn’t Bella try that when she was being reckless?

So overall I was impressed. Well done if my opinion matters ;)

New Moon Parody is Here..

The Hillywood Show's New Moon Parody has arrived. I will be doing a full review of it soon. But for now. Just get your butts over to WATCH IT. Seriously.
Do it.
NOW!

Happy New Year and Major Whitlock in your Mailbox.

Happy New Year (one day late) from Ambrosia here at Major Whitlock. It is a new year and a more Major Whitlock ahead! Eclipse is coming out in June, and I don't know about my fellow Jasper lover's but I am looking foward to that one the best. There are also some fantastic re-enactments coming up. And the Major will be sure to post some more history stuff for us.

Now for the bit about Major Whitlock in your mailbox. I have a project going on called the Random Acts of Smiles project. It is a project to send off postcards to people, a surprise. Something to make them smile. In the day of e-mail and everything else Align Rightmail has become a place just for bills. Well in honor of time gone by of our fantastic Major Whitlock I started the project. And since we are thinking about that time, there are several cards in the selection that feature Major Whitlock. Now there is not an exact guarentee to get one of these cards but a little bird told me if you sign up to get a card yourself, or for someone else and put a little mention that you want a Major Whitlock card.....it just might happen. *wink* Here is to the start of a great new year!
